Late Adopters? Construction? Really? – Open Letter From Construction Data President Bill Black

As an industry, we’ve often been pegged as late adopters of technology. And there are certainly hundreds of firms running around our space peddling the latest and greatest tech solution to our age old problems. But are we really slow to adopt newer technologies? I don’t think so, and I would love to hear from you.

Let’s take e-mail as a simple example. Studies have shown that most business people open their e-mails BEFORE they have coffee or whatever passes for breakfast. I know I do. How about you?

And on what device do you open your e-mails? I use my smartphone (used to be a Blackberry, R.I.P.). How about you? Do you use your phone for e-mails or a tablet, or is it still a PC? Since Google’s smartwatch has not yet been released, we can rule that out!

But I bet that most of us are, in fact, on top of our e-mails and other communications far more than we think. Are you?

Best, Bill Black

I dont think that is true. All our supervisors in the field have iPads utilize blubeam and drop box. Most of our forms employee and customer are create and completed through a cloud service. They all have email every employee and have for several years. PMs live by there phone and most don’t carry a laptop every time they leave the office. We utilize tools and technology to support our staff and have for several years.
