More than a dozen employees of Jamison Home Services and Jamison Masonry Restoration have selflessly sacrificed their weekends over the past several months to assist Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County (HFHMC) complete their 55th home project. The Jamison staff has volunteered their skills and expertise to repair and replace stucco, apply masonry coating and point and replace the brick front of a house to renovate a home in Norristown, PA for a deserving family.
HFHMC has been building and restoring homes since 1989 with the assistance of individuals and organizations in their mission to eliminate poverty housing. HFHMC serves the communities of Norristown, Pottstown and Upper Dublin. They are currently expanding to the Hatfield/Lansdale area.
According to Jamison Home Services, LLC president Frank Jamison, it’s time and money well spent. “We are lucky to have great employees who don’t mind giving up their time to volunteer,” Jamison says. “Habitat is a wonderful organization that provides permanent homes for deserving people and the Jamison family is truly honored to be able to help do something for those in need.”
In addition to providing the manpower to make the necessary repairs to the house, Jamison’s employees donated the scaffolding for the project as well as some of the masonry coatings. They also enlisted the help of some of their vendors including Allied Landscaping, C.L. Presser and MAB Paints/Sherwin Williams who all donated materials for the project.
“Jamison Home Services’ commitment of labor and materials to restore the exterior of the property Habitat is rehabbing at 137 W Airy Street in Norristown is a tremendous help toward the completion of this house. Much of what we do is volunteer based, but for tasks that require a high degree of skill we have to rely on subcontractors,” said Josh Gieske, Construction Manager for Habitat for Humanity. “Jamison’s donation of skilled tradesmen for this project has saved us thousands of dollars we would otherwise have had to raise to restore the exterior of this house in accordance with Norristown’s historical architectural requirements. Thanks to gift-in-kind partners like Jamison Home Services we are able to help more families have a decent and affordable place to live.”
