1. A piece of steel welded to the top of a steel beam or girder so as to become embedded in the concrete fill over the beam and cause the beam and the concrete to act as a single structural unit. 2. Forged steel headed stud, fusion welded to horizontal structural decking, embedded within concrete slab, to transfer horizontal shear loads from slab to supporting structure.
